Classic Car Show at Castle Howard returns

Set within the grounds of the Castle Howard Estate, the Classic Car & Motor Show will take place on Sunday 4th October (having been rescheduled from June). It will offer a spectacular day of motoring heritage ideal for enthusiasts, day trippers and families. With over 500 vintage, classic and modern classic vehicles on display, over 40 trade and auto stalls plus quality food, drink and ice cream on offer, the event is set to be a great day out for the whole family to enjoy.

The Classic Car Show is included within a Castle Howard Gardens ticket (free for Friends of Castle Howard). This event is compliant with COVID-19 Government guidance and we politely ask, due to the recent guidelines that visitors pre-book online and do not book for more than 6 people in a party (unless your household or support bubble is more than 6 people). NY Leaders’ Update on Coronavirus Response

The latest in this series of regular updates will be on Tuesday 18 August at 1pm.

North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Julia Mulligan will lead the live update and will be joined by:

·        Chief Constable Lisa Winward – North Yorkshire Police

·        Chief Fire Officer Andrew Brodie – NY Fire and Rescue Service

·        Sharon Stoltz – Director of Public Health for York

·        Richard Flinton – Chair of the NY Local Resilience Forum (NYLRF)

·        Assistant Chief Constable Mike Walker – North Yorkshire Police

Members of the public are invited to watch the meeting from 1.00pm on Tuesday on YouTube  and submit questions in advance by emailing [email protected], posting on Twitter using the hashtag #NYscrutiny or commenting on Facebook. Not all questions will be able to be used, but they will inform the Commissioner’s questioning and the general discussion.

NY Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner – Virtual Public Meeting 28 July

North Yorkshire’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner is asking for people to get involved in her next monthly public accountability meeting, live from 1330 Tuesday 28 July.  Members of the public are invited to send in their comments before or during the online session. 

The meeting on Tuesday 28 July, will start at 1.30pm and will focus on: 

  • Fire: Progress against the Fire and Rescue Plan: ‘Effective engagement’ Fire and Rescue Plan – page 9
    To increase trust and public confidence in our Service, involving, engaging and consulting our communities on the services we provide and delivering the best possible service
  • Police: Progress against the Police and Crime Plan: ‘Enhancing the Customer Experience’
    We will embed an outward-facing perspective to guide all our endeavours, providing an exemplary service that exceeds expectations, whether that be in serving the public, shaping the organisation or working with colleagues and partners. 

As well as watching the live broadcast, the public are also invited to ask their questions, relevant to the discussion, during the meetings via Twitter by including #NYscrutiny in their tweets.  

Commenting on the public meetings, Julia said:  

“These meetings give members of the public and staff the opportunity to understand the performance of both services and hear what they are doing to keep us safe and feeling safe.  

“I encourage everyone to join in and watch, and if you have a question, please ask it.”
