Saturday 6 July 2024, 11am to 3pm, Slingsby Sports Field
Come join us for a jam-packed family fun day out at our annual duck race – now in its 33rd year – in Slingsby. Entry is free, with a variety of good old-fashioned attractions on offer ranging from bouncy castles, a tombola, hook-a-duck and splat-a-rat, and face painting to name a few, complete with home baked refreshments. We’re absolutely delighted to also see the return of our ‘Star’ Chef Andrew Pern, owner of the Michelin-starred restaurant The Star Inn at Harome, who will be providing and cooking a mouthwatering BBQ menu on the day to boot. The fun starts at 11am on the Slingsby Sports Field with the Duck Race officially starting at 2pm. Shortly after the ducks have crossed the line, we will announce the lucky 1st place £50 prize winner, the last place £10 prize winner, and draw the winners of our raffle which includes a voucher for a meal at The Star Inn at Harome, concluding the day’s events at 3pm. We will be selling ducks and raffle tickets in the lead up to the day at the Slingsby Car Boot on Sunday 16 June and also at the Castle Howard garden centre on either 22 or 29 June (date to be confirmed). Details can be found on the Friends of Slingsby School Facebook page. We hope to see you on the day of the race to help us raise much needed funds for our wonderful school. We hope to see you there!
